A 5-year-old girl with congenital HIV infection and multiple episodes of pneumonia. At age 1 she presented with slowly progressive tetraparesis. Neurologic examination showed increased deep tendon reflexes, bilateral clonus, and bilateral Babinsky sign. Head circumference was normal. At age 2 she stopped walking without assistance.
