Neuroblastoma-like Schwannoma (NBLS)

  • Background:
    • NBLS is an extremely rare variant of a schwannoma with aggressive features on imaging.
  • Key Diagnostic Features:
    • T1 hypointense, STIR hyperintense, with uniform enhancement and cortical destruction
  • Differential Diagnoses:
    • Can be confused with round blue cell tumors histologically; mimics a solitary plasmacytoma radiologically
  • Treatment
    • Surgical resection is curative, with radiation therapy reserved for refractory cases.
