Schema for calculating regional structural volume and SPECT counts. An example of calculating striatal and occipital volume and SPECT counts is shown. A, The original MR imaging and SPECT images are coregistered. B−D, We transformed the striatal and occipital VOI templates to the individual brain (B); and by using these VOI templates on the individual MR image (C), we extracted individual regional segmented VOI templates (D) and calculated their volumes. E, Then, by using the extracted striatum and occipital lobe as VOIs for the individual coregistered SPECT image, we determined striatal and occipital lobe counts.

ROC curves to discriminate between DLB and AD. The measurement of the z-score in the combined striatal volume and occipital SPECT ratio yielded higher sensitivity and specificity (AUC = 0.898) (a) compared with the independent striatal volume ratio (AUC = 0.679) (b) or the independent occipital SPECT ratio (AUC = 0.798) (c).
