- Deep Medullary Vein Integrity and Relationships with Small Vessel Disease and Interstitial Diffusivity Measures in Patients with a Recent Small Subcortical Infarct
In this retrospective observational study, the authors assessed how DMV integrity relates to MRI-based SVD severity markers and glymphatic function assessed by DTI measures in patients with a recent small subcortical infarct. DMV disruption demonstrated a weak association with SVD, influenced by confounding factors, and a strong relationship with microstructural WM integrity and free water content, suggesting the potential involvement of extracellular fluid in mechanisms leading to vein disruption.
- Dissociation of Structural and Functional Connectivity and Metabolism in the Neocortex of Idiopathic Generalized Epilepsy: A Simultaneous PET/MRI Multimodal Study
This study uses simultaneous PET/MRI, which integrates structural connectivity, functional connectivity, and glucose metabolism in IGE to elucidate abnormalities of the neocortex and to analyze the correlations between these abnormalities and clinical presentations. The results show dissociated patterns of abnormalities: structural connectivity abnormalities in the limbic and visual networks, functional connectivity deficits in the default mode network, and metabolic reductions in the frontoparietal and somatomotor networks.
