    M. Lou, Z. Chen, J. Wan, H. Hu, X. Cai, Z. Shi and J. Sun
    American Journal of Neuroradiology November 2014, 35 (11) 2061-2067; DOI: https://doi.org/10.3174/ajnr.A4017

The benefit of thrombolytic therapy was assessed in 54 patients with a mismatch between infarct core as seen on DWI and penumbra as seen on SWI. Favorable outcomes were significantly higher in patients with DWI-SWI mismatch than in those without it. The accuracy of the DWI-SWI mismatch for predicting good outcome was higher than that for the more traditional DWI-perfusion mismatch.

Calvarial Fracture Patterns on CT Imaging Predict Risk of a Delayed Epidural Hematoma following Decompressive Craniectomy for Traumatic Brain Injury
    J.F. Talbott, A. Gean, E.L. Yuh and S.I. Stiver
    American Journal of Neuroradiology October 2014, 35 (10) 1930-1935; DOI: https://doi.org/10.3174/ajnr.A4001

The authors assessed patterns of skull fractures that could play a role in the development of delayed epidural hematoma. All patients who developed a delayed epidural hematoma had a contralateral calvarial fracture on preoperative CT. The contralateral calvarial fracture had perfect sensitivity (100%) for subsequent development of delayed epidural hematoma and a contralateral calvarial fracture involving 2 or more bone plates was particularly significant.
