These are underappreciated and largely unrecognized by most neuroradiologists despite being found to be increasingly important in the pathogenesis, imaging, and treatment of communicating hydrocephalus. This review aims to provide neuroradiologists with an overview of the history, embryology, histology, anatomy, and normal imaging appearance of these membranes, as well as some examples of their clinical importance.ETVendoscopic third ventriculostomyLMLiliequist membrane
